Live bossa nova and samba drumming: full-kit grooves, brush and cross-stick patterns, and fills, played by Ryan Shaw. Recorded on a 1960s Gretsch Round Badge kit through Neve 1073 preamps, Vanguard condenser mics and AEA ribbon mics. Warm, live and organic, made to sit in a mix without heavy processing.
Full-kit loops to drop in and build on, no-kick tops so you can place your own low end underneath, brush and cross-stick patterns, and fills to move between sections. All of it is Ryan live at the kit, with a full focus on feel.
THE STUDIO
DRUMS, CO-PRODUCER
Ryan is a Jazz drummer in Los Angeles. He plays on Laufey's last three albums and most of her Christmas music, and he has recorded with Michael Bublé, Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, the Charlie Brown Peanuts scores for Apple TV+, and more. Brushes and bossa nova are at the center of a lot of that music, so this pack is inspired by that.
PRODUCER, ENGINEER, MIXER
Will is a producer and composer whose credits include Monogem, Graham Dechter, Kai Stevens, Sueñito, Bri Oglu and Ela Ozturk, across a range of genres. He and Ryan worked together on the Lineage Trio record with Graham Dechter and Alex Frank. Will engineered, mixed and produced these samples so they drop straight into your session.
